Chris Ofili
I have posted on Chris Ofilis work before buuuuut...last night I saw this great documentary on his work, it was mainly about this exhibition he was installing at the British Pavilion, Venice Biennale, 2003.He talked through the idea process through to its realisation. Twas awesome.....The space where his paintings were hanging was covered with carefully cut coloured glass. Each bit of glass was carefully placed to form an elaborate roof. The walls were clad in felt and the floor was carpeted to enhance the whole experience of the space. I find Chris Ofilis work a bit hit or miss but I thought this exhibition looked great.

Jockum Nordstrom
Myself and my friend Atoosa visited The Douglas Hyde Gallery yesterday to see Jockum Nordstrom exhibition. I was really impressed. Jockum Nordström is a Swedish artist, best known for his vivid collages, but also for his drawings, paintings and work as an illustrator.

Life painting
Myself and my sister Lucia went to a life painting class in the Temple Bar Gallery Studios. I found it pretty difficult to get the models features right, I think i changed them about 5 times over. Ive been painting from photos lately and am a bit rusty at the aul life painting but enjoyed it all the same.

New painting
I started a new painting yesterday..I'm at a bit of a cross roads when it comes to style .My work and my taste in art in general has changed alot over this past year. Although it has been a gradual process, when I compare my old work with my new stuff they seem worlds apart. Maybe this is a good thing! :)

David Schnell
I came across the german artist David Schnell today. His work uses perspective, color, and a sense of place.Schnell became fixated with long narrow sheds that played up his fascination with one-point perspectives. These sheds then devolved into abstract shapes that clashed with the flat scenes of nature surrounding them. I love his use of colour and his strong shapes.

Holidays
I cant believe I'm finished my first year of college and have only one year left wwoohhoo!
I never posted those paper waves I was working on..I had major plans for them..but in the end they looked prettier just hanging on the wall by themselves, well you never know how a finished piece is gonna look. That's why i love working with an element of chance.

Curtis Mann
In this video, 2010 artist Curtis Mann demonstrates how he created After the Dust, Second View (Beirut) by appropriating images from photo-sharing sites, such as Flickr, and using a process involving varnish and bleach to abstract the original images.I love the finished photographs...
